Fomo
Well it used to be when I woke up
Before I even poured a cup
I'd reach for a smoke not screen
Now I flick through the social thread
I'm filled with existential dread
At the prefect lives and bodies I'll see
There's a guy from work named Don
On a sunny beach with big smile on
Got a raise to go with that new tattoo
And the redhead who lives up the block
Does yoga while I race the clock
Gotta get to work cuz my rent is due
And it makes me wanna scream and shout
I just know that I've been missing out
I've got a serious case of FOMO
Can you tell me what that's all about
Well my coffee break is such a wreck
That's when I ask "did they all check
My Story?" But, they never do
Back to work after 15
But my mind is always on that screen
Insta, Snap and some Facebook, too
Check in Check me out
LOL 'bout nothin'
Post a meme to show how funny you are
Fake some wisdom, act ironic
Gotta show the world I'm on it
Wanna be a social media star
And it makes me wanna scream and shout
I'm still sure that I've been missing out
I've got a serious case of FOMO
Can you tell me what that's all about
But when I get back to my desk
There's a post-it hanging off of the screen
And when I see it's from her
It's like waking up from a bad dream
She dots her I's with a smiley face
It's the original emoji and you know she got me thinking 'bout
Sitting 'cross from her passing notes in the 7th grade
I ain't missing out on nothing cuz with her you know I've got it made
FIrst I put it in my pocket
Now I think I may have lost it
I'm not even sure if it's charged
But when I see her my smile gets bright
It's not just artificial light
There's no auto-dim on this old man's heart
Yeah she taught me how to put it away
And just enjoy every beautiful day
I ain't missing out on nothin'
Cuz with her you know I've got it made
Before I even poured a cup
I'd reach for a smoke not screen
Now I flick through the social thread
