The Seams

I should have been in bed hours ago
The chamomile is getting low
And I keep sinking deeper praying for love through the phone
I should have said goodbye years ago
Just cut it off and let it go
But I kept trying to secure what felt out of control

And now he tries to move on
And I have been so strong
And neither of us wants to admit that we were wrong
And as birds fly south for winter, I warm myself from shivers
I'm used to it now, I'm no longer bitter

It's just a thread loose at the seams
When with him I'm not quite me
And I no longer force what is not meant to be

Now I'm wearing his shirt to bed
And I'm the song stuck in his head
Flooding out the life that I almost chose instead

And his thumb strokes my cheek
I am the sun he seeks
And both of us know true love won't make you weak
And as birds fly home for summer, I feel I'm falling under
Into the blue
Cause that man turned pain to wonder

It's a thread tied at the seams
I'm with him and I'm most me
And now I trust in what is just meant to be

And now the thread knots at the seams
He's the oxygen I breathe
And he became my cup of chamomile tea
Meant to be
Meant to be
