Mediocre Excellence

Hi, my name is Pi
Someone in the norm on social media
Not anyone you'd search on Wikipedia
Hi, this is me. I'm striving every day to be successful
But when you're not a genius, can be stressful

Was good in school, but not among the top
In every sport, I was the biggest flop
A good degree, without a steady job
I'm not Brad Pitt, but people say I'm kinda hot

I wish I was extraordinary
Instead I'm pretty ordinary
And everything I do is pretty basic
Not even my IQ is worth showcasing
If I was extraordinary
My life would be legendary
For everything I did there would be praising
And everyone would think I was amazing
But I'm not

I'm so sick and tired
Of so much exercise and dedication
And my belly doesn't show deflation
Then I get inspired
I'm trying new activities to see
If I will ever find the one for me

But when I sing, my voice is kinda flat
My roller skating ain't nothing to look at
In painting class, I got a shaky hand
And my guitar won't get me in a boy band

I wish I was extraordinary
Instead I'm pretty ordinary
And everything I do is pretty basic
Not even my IQ is worth showcasing
If I was extraordinary
My life would be legendary
For everything I did there would be praising
And everyone would think I was amazing
But I'm not

And the award for Mediocre Excellence goes to...

Pasqualino Beltempo

Thank you very much for this award
I dedicate it to all of you who realized
Just like I did, that perfection is boring
Cause it leaves no room for improvement
I know that to achieve certain dreams you need talent
Starting from scratch is complicated
But even though clichés always have a grain of truth
I choose to be the exception

They always told me I really should give up
That at some point, you know you did enough
You're way too old, or maybe way too young
But here I am, not even close to being done

Because I am extraordinary
Cause even though it seems I'm failing
Sure enough you'll never see me bailing
At the game of life I'll keep on playing
To be extraordinary
You gotta learn to be daring
If you don't succeed it can be scary
But then you try again until you make it
Just hold on tight
