About Hattie

I feel like, telling a story...
So if you want to listen
Stick around, fill in the ending
It's set in a women's prison
It's about a girl
Hattie, we'll say
I heard about her just the other day
I must admit, apon reading it
I wanted to look away

Hattie was just fifteen when she left to find understanding
She says
"I was so free and breezy...
But the streets were pretty sleazy
I met this gentle loving man
Who proposed to me
I didn't really know who he was
But I gave him my virginity...

3 nights later, he took me aside and said"

"Here's what we're gonna do
You, baby, gotta work for me, if you want my love to continue"

Well, something then must have snapped inside
'Cause evidently I hid my tears
And then he said more in 3 nights
Than my dad did in 3 years

So Hattie joined the ranks of those engaged in tax evasion
The sun set from Hattie's eyes
Her iris grey from agin'
Hoo hoo hooo
Woah hoh oh oh

Hattie was, last she was seen
Somewhere near the station
They think she was tryin' t' get away
There isn't too much information
Some say she took an overdose
And some say she lives alone
But every night for a moment or so
Her dad still checks his phone
And you can hear him say

"Hattie, come home!"

Woo hoo oooh ooh
Woah oh ohoh
Now if you might have a daughter like Hattie
I thank you for your time
I know sometimes she makes you mean
Or makes you act unkind
But wont you please take a part of your day
To tell her just what she means?
Hattie lies somewhere alone
And that's what's in her dreams

Dreams

Woo ooh hoo ooh
Wooh ho ohooh
Woo hoo oohooh
Woah ho hoho
