Dirty Dick Dies

DIRTY DICK DIES
Dirty Dick was driving down Memory lane
The city lights were dim in the heavy rain
These were the quarters where I used to roam
When he was still a boy straying from home
There was the park where he beat up that kid
There really was no reason, he just did
Yeah, he liked to dream about days gone by
But today he felt rage burning in his eye

He'd went to see the doctor the other day
To smell his yellow teeth and to hear him say
"It doesn't look good, and I won't tell a lie
The rot is spreading fast, and you gonna die"
"What does it take, doc", Dick heard himself say
"just name your price and I will pay
I know some famous people I got important friends
I tell you Doctor Coffee, this is not the way it ends"

Bah-shoa-sho-a-a
Bah-shoa-sho-ai-ai-ai-ai
"Now I got information in secret files
I got a billion dollars on the Virgin Isles
Got I diamond in a locket, and an ancient golden plate
Got a gun here in my pocket, to set you people straight"

Doc sipped his coffee and he quietly said
"The sickness doesn't care if I'm 'live or dead
It's like worm that needs to be fed
And it doesn't stop until it's through your head"

Bah-shoa-sho-a-a
Bah-shoa-sho-ai-ai-ai-ai

The car is purring as he talks to God
Trying to find his hands in the rolling fog
"Now you might think that I'm a heartless sod
But once I gave water to a thirsty dog
And if you help me out, I'll pay you well
I'll even build a church, and I'll ring the bell
And if that's not enough", he says to the Lord
"I'll even help some poor, if I can afford"

Bah-shoa-sho-a-a
Bah-shoa-sho-ai-ai-ai-ai

Now he's all ears, but there's no reply
No words are heard from God in the foggy sky
The only thing ringing in his aching head
Is the doctor saying softly that he's gonna be dead
He couldn't see houses by the city park
Or the poplars where they climbed when it was getting dark
He clung on to the wheel with a trembling fist
And felt that he was swallowed in the rolling mist
