Last Letter
Baby brother
How you doing
It's 11am here and the coffee's still brewing
I've been waiting by the mailbox
For a letter to come my way
It's been 358 days since I heard what you gotta say
I always write you, but I never hear back
You must be busy, still fighting over in Iraq
See my tour finished, but I know it's different cuz it's music
So I'm stuck wishing you would make it back before I lose it
So I say, baby brother, I've been waiting patiently
I can't wait to hold you in my arms again when we meet
But until then, I'll just keep you in my prayers
And this'll be the last letter I send till I see you again
Hey big brother, I've been trying to find the time
To send these letters telling you all about the fight
We almost had 'em, but the table's turned
And now I'm on my own
I'm the last man standing and I'm just hoping I can make it back home
But my canteen's empty and my cover's just been blown
Their footsteps are getting louder and now I'm bleeding from the wounds I've sewn
See they'd send help, but my radio signal is down
My pen is running out of ink and my magazine is almost out
So I say, hey big brother, I've been waiting patiently
I can't wait to hold you in my arms again when we meet
But until then, I'll just keep you in my prayers
And this'll be the last letter I send till I see you again
