Who told you you couldn't be great
Who told you you had to wait
Who just takes a back seat to their own life and surrenders to fate
Faith is a substance of what your imagination sees fit to create

And if great minds think alike, then so do mediocre ones
Why not elevate
Cause if misery loves company, then so does spite
Who are you letting curate your fun or spoil your life

See, cliches clutch new captains covertly each night
While the closed minds of the hopeless can't seem to see victory in any fight
And just might be the companions of those who give up to never take flight
But see, I got places to go when they all out of sight

Capacity to uncover, filtering for the fullness in life
Realize I had to stop giving out unsolicited advice, so that I could charge forward
Tap into my truths and then share the appropriate insight

Now I can see, yeah, now I can see that them elementary school teachers lied on me
About what I could be, about special ed and what future I would see
Bet they'd be baffled if they saw this PhD
Yeah, now you might see what's possible when you let go of the internalized

Limitations and deficiencies placed in you as a youth and throughout life
Then embrace that unique complexity that is you and never lose sight of it
But it takes hard work and consistency and acceptance to your agency
A growth mindset, radical honesty, and maybe a little bit of therapy

What if you were capable of more
And what do you think it felt like when the eagle first realized that it could soar
Why treat greatness like a chore or throw potential to the floor

When I say give yourself grace
I didn't mean beforehand as an excuse to stay in the same place
The truth is, you're not gonna get that full workout in unless you change the weight
At least enough to challenge you

So why wait
I'm done with waiting, I'm done complaining, I'm done debating my worth
Been too complacent, I'm born for greatness, I know my place on this earth
No matter the hand that I'm dealt, I'ma take it and making it work

From other failures, I learned how to keep faith when I'm hurt
Now I'ma take them to church
All father who are in heaven, I'm taking too long to learn lessons
Treating the present like it's not a present and stressing about all my possessions

Negative thoughts and depression are taunting me, calling out all my intentions
I just want all my successes to be so impressive that nobody talks to me reckless
So don't ask me your questions, my answers are offensive
If you got small perspectives about artistic expression

I've made the investments, saw faults and made corrections
Made progress, not perfection
My capacity is stretching

The path was planned for me, I'm chasing a massive dream
To make it reality, I work while they fast asleep
I know what I have to be, the odds that I have to beat to get to the heights that I have to reach
I'm actually already at altitudes where doubts remove

I'm making my wildest moves, crossing them out they shoes
All of the wows and oohs and awws from y'all in the crowd is cool
But there's nothing I have to prove, just watch what I'm about to do
