Empty Skies

Empty Skies
We create the greenhouse gases
That deplete the ozone layer
Fossil Fuels burn to please the masses
For the future we just don't care
The earth is on fire
There's no rain in the sky
The smoke just rises higher
And the birds no longer fly

In our empty skies every thing is dying
We've got empty skies and we just don't realise
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are

We've got dead zones in the oceans
Can't support microscopic life
Plastic suffocates the plankton
Mammals and seabirds and fish can't survive
The icecaps are melting
The seas rise day by day
The sunspots they're exploding
Radiating ultraviolet rays

In our empty skies every thing is dying
We've got empty skies and we just don't realise
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are

We dig down deep in the planet
Extract all the gas, oil and coal
Millions of years lying dormant
From Mother Nature we have taken control
We cut down all the rain forest
No oxygen in the air
Once fertile land now returning to dust
Our pollution is everywhere

In our empty skies every thing is dying
We've got empty skies and we just don't realise
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are

Time will pass and bring the last of mankind's reign
From outer space not a trace of the blue atmosphere (one day)
Single cells will separate and recreate it all again
A new beginning, what will be living in three million years
A new beginning, what will be living in three million years
A new beginning, what will be living in three million years
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are
How frail-how fragile we are
