More for Me

It finally stopped, the other shoe dropped
The grandfather clock quit counting
They emptied the malls, stormed city hall
Until one day there was no more shouting

They had a good run, though it didn't seem fun
For those last couple centuries
Some of them tried turning the tide
But most of them cried desperately, "More for me"

I can't complain, except when it rains
No, I wouldn't say that I'm jaded
Some creatures can kill, and sometimes they will
But I'll have my fill when they're sated

The highways are clear, the coast disappeared
The buildings fell into the sea
If only they got those guys at the top
But since they did not, more for me

No planes in the sky, I'm circling high
And it's almost time to eat
Don't mind if I do, because now that they're through
And out of here too, more for me
