With an ever-smiling face you were born
I feared that from my hands you might be torn
I watched as your passions they began to take shape
I knew I had to rationalize to get out of your way

But now I'm just waiting to see you shine
Up on that screen or stage, under the lights

They finally shine a light on all your noble ways
But why is it you only thrive
With that darkness in your eyes

From when you were real young you had it clear

Watching all your skills develop only brought me pride
