Sacred Dreams
Authentic dreams I had to sketch out
I just wanna be the best out
Planning on my best route
And which way I'm a take it
I know I'm gonna make it
And that's why this is sacred to me
Don't plan on burying talents
I'm planning on taking advantage
On everything that I can see in my vantage
I won't end up jaded I know I can manage
The way that they set up the rules to be slanted
And disadvantage those that look like me
For being black they throw the book at me
Wish I could read 'em though
And maybe then instead of sink or swim
We'd just own the aquarium
We can change the environment
Reach a higher enlightenment
Change the story and title it
How my blackness is vital and
No more playing the violin
For the souls of the fallen me
Then we start to see hope again
But wait wait it's hard
How can dreams heal what reality still scars
Leading with their politics false claiming the Lord
And wonder why our actions reflect hate absorbed
Lord
Authentic dreams I had to sketch out
I just wanna be the best out
Planning on my best route
And which way I'm a take it
I know I'm gonna make it
And that's why this is sacred to me
What's freedom without agitation
Just a person waiting patience turns into frustration
See the seeds that's planted must be watered for creation
And our tears was all we had to give precipitation
Anticipating changes as my anger bubbles
I'm sitting watching blindness to a blatant struggle
How often I'm reminded if you wanna hustle
The culture is for sale but that don't make them love you
Silly m
Silly me
Under impressions that America is free
Still feeling shackled to impractical beliefs
They using scriptures but won't practice what is preached
Sheesh
Wish everything was how it seemed
We all just want a voice and to be seen
Our blackness is the fabric down to the seams
I wear my skin with pride cause that's a sacred dream
Authentic dreams I had to sketch out
I just wanna be the best out
Planning on my best route
And which way I'm a take it
I know I'm gonna make it
And that's why this is sacred to me
I just wanna be the best out
Planning on my best route
And which way I'm a take it
I know I'm gonna make it
