...Is Set Upon A Hill

And if a city is set upon a hill
Over gate and bud
Bound to the road
Whilst stars breathe long songs
And if in that city
That is set upon a hill
You find gold or silver
Bracken or brick

On that set hill's crown
The witches whirl around
Dig up long fingers
But do not lift their eyes
With fingers strong
Latched with fly-song and tiles
On the foundations of the house
Rise turrets of stone

But in the eclipse
Under which you slept
You slipped out sooner than you knew
And in that city, I read
In the loft where the rats and mice shine
By a canopy of walls
And in that man's house
Their eyеs are shining
And the mousies' hеarts beat
Like a 9:30 clock

That has abandoned its name
And caught in some net
Under the poppies' cling
With the scent of dust
And tea and toast

And dead is your mistress
And dead is your wife
And dead are the children
As deaf as death are their streams
And the skies are silent
And the words from our lips

But if a city stands upon a hill
With its beams and sunlights
With kiss 'n' tell
And the latch and its fetch
Relied on in dreams

My advice to your dreams?
"Roast a spider, toast the tiger"
Just memories stretched out
From nursery rhymes or spectres

Time for tea with the dream queen
With a free flick and trick twist
Whilst spinning the coins
By the clock by your head
Haloed with curls
Full of cypress and empress
And thousands of suns
At the door again
