Self Medication

I think I'm doing okay
But please don't hold your breath
I have been here before if you're looking for more
I'm sorry there's nothing left

But I'll be better next time, at least I promise to try
I've got plans I've got dreams, for a moment it seems everything is alright
But then I fall through the floor
And I crash into the wall
I feel good for a while then I forget how to smile
I'm not okay after all

So here's to self-medication
Here's to self-mutilation
Old scars and new tattoos
Nothing to gain nothing to lose
I'm not okay but I'll be alright, yeah I'll be alright

I wrote a suicide note and turned it into a song
I've written hundreds of poems and I'm just letting you know
I plan on burning them all
I drew a picture of God on my wrist with a knife
I jumped off of the roof desperately trying to prove that I could learn how to fly

So here's to self-medication
Here's to self-mutilation
Old scars and new tattoos
Nothing to gain nothing to lose
I'm not okay but I'll be alright, yeah I'll be alright

I think I'm doing okay
I think I'll make it this time
But if I don't make it home
I just want you to know
I kept my promise to try

So here's to self-medication
Here's to self-mutilation
Old scars and new tattoos
Nothing to gain nothing to lose
I'm not okay but I'll be alright
Yea I'll be alright

So here's to self-medication
Here's to self-mutilation
Old scars and new tattoos
Nothing to gain nothing to lose
I'm not okay but I'll be alright
I'm not okay but I'll be alright
