Waiting

As I reel in the years, I realize
There's no heroes, no evil or good guys
Some live in poverty, fighting disease
While others have too much to eat

Choices can be tough
Sometimes lines get blurred too much
We're just searching for some perfect form of us
We're just waiting, sick of waiting

We're just waiting for a way to make ourselves whole
Aimless hope, takes its toll
'Til we're tired, bored or alone
Feels like damage is all we can ever control

Trying to cope
With the weight of an atrophied soul
It never works that way
Let's try not to learn it too late

Locked in this snapshot of us
Hoping that lock gathers rust
But the rains only falling outside
Of our sheltered times, my, my-

Gray hazy light, flooding from masses
Will fate us to fight, it's hard to move past
All these feelings of spite, for left and for right
I fear for when day turns to night

We've been jaded
Filled with hatred
Saturated
Sick of waiting

Waiting for a way to make ourselves whole
Aimless hope, takes its toll
'Til we're tired, bored or alone
Feels like damage is all we can ever control

Trying to cope
With the weight of an atrophied soul
It never works that way
Let's try not to learn it too late
