Poetry

I still hide you in my poetry
The lines the rhymes the minor keys for you
And the voice of my anxieties
Scream louder when you look at me
I don't know why
Well my mama says I gotta work instead
Prepping for what's up ahead but I can't
And I know you don't stay up at night
Writing verses by your old desk light
But I do
If love is a game of tic tac toe
You left me constantly waiting for an X or an O
And if I could do it right
I'd give my heart to you tonight
This I know
I still hide you in my poetry
The lines the rhymes the minor keys for you
And the words that end up on the page
Will never see the light of day
Till I'm with you
Well my mama says I gotta get to bed
Come inside and rest my head
So I do
And I know you don't dream about the two of us
Screwin up and fallin in love
But I do
And If love is a game of tic tac toe
You left me constantly waiting for an X or an O
And if I could do it right
I'd give my heart to you tonight
This I know
And the voice of my anxieties
Scream louder when you look at me
I don't know why
