Sandbag (Voice Memo)

It was less that the sun might not come back
More than it might
More than it might
Less about exactly how it looks at night
More if it's changed
Changed in the light

I pulled a pencil
I pushed the suspects to the wall
And I drew lines to be sure of their height
It took all of my strength not to grab you by the shoulder
To see if you had somehow shifted in the night

What if I made you up?
What if you're empty?
What if by sunrise you don't look the same to me?

Movie scene
Temple robbed and booby trapped
You know the one
You know the one
An eagle scout swapping out shiny objects
For bags of sand
Such sleight of hand

And it's just like me
To use a story
To parcel out my feelings
But what if I'm too good?
Like you're just something easy
I can tell myself when I'm misunderstood

What if I made you up?
What if you're empty?
What if by sunrise you don't look the same to me?
And what were you thinking?
Thinking of me
And did you only think it possible cause we saw it on TV?
