Mary Drew a Picture in My Mind

Mary drew a picture. It took a long long time
All the different reasons for all the different lines
Winter greys and golden days. Nothing left behind
Mary drew a picture in my mind
Look closely feel the laughter of the children at their games
As they ran to her shelter before the winter came
All the shady corners where the sun refused to shine
Mary drew a picture in my mind
But through it all across the page she spread a gentle light
To show that everything would heal in time
As though to take the sadness out of the darkest night
Mary drew a picture in my mind
Mary drew a picture long dried upon the page
Where things like love and memories they never dim with age
We keep them deep within our hearts each memory we find
Where Mary drew a picture in my mind
And as the years have come and gone I feel that gentle light
I know that everything does heal in time
Her memory takes the sadness out of the darkest night
Mary drew a picture in my mind
Mary drew a picture in my mind
