First day of school so many years ago
Remember I walked in and felt all alone
I set down my bag, at the foot of my desk
And had no idea what would happen next
And when the teacher would ask the class
I'd know the answer but never raise my hand
Then I'd look across, across the room
Wishing I could be as fearless as you

But you never had the answer

How on earth did we become best friends
Never did I think you'd be my guy until the end
Some things in life do not make sense

You held me up and helped me grow

But then I met a girl and settled down
And our friendship turned from rain to drought
