How To Move Mountains
Alright
It all started with a step
We've all got higher hills to climb
Regardless of our depths
I don't want to face the morning
I don't know what's out ahead
If it's true
You've got to lose yourself
To find yourself again
I don't know
Who I am
Where I am
Where I've been
Here I am
I just show up as myself
Lost as hell
Did everything
I thought would help
Ringing those appointment bells
I could fill a novel up
With thoughts
About my former self
So I sat down
On the peak of a cliff
And tried to see
The whole world
How green its scenery is
All the greatest
Life philosophies
That teach us to live
They made me question
Why I even exist
As we get older
And we let go
Of the meaning
We believed in as kids
That life has a foundation
A little deeper than this
I find it hard to hold onto
Like the mist and the coast
I had no Kerouac moments
Because I was sitting at home
Like this
Trying to pen these songs
Trying to find a better place
Where I might belong
This is not a freestyle
I will write these wrongs
It took me three years
Of therapy
To write these songs
And learn
How To Move Mountains
This is how you find peace
When there's so much
In your head
And the whole world
Falls on your chest
Just breathe
You can move mountains
When the whole world's
On your chest
When you're caving in again
Inhale exhale next
You've got to take
One deep breath
You you can move mountains
Twenty five living with regret
Can you get up again
I know that living
Scares you to death
That's only because
You haven't done it yet
This is how
You move mountains
You can move mountains
You can move mountains
You can move mountains
I can almost smell
The ocean now
When we're this close
To your parents' house
The highway
Spinning backwards
As we're traveling
Like lightning
In your memory
Just waiting
To come crashing down
I look at my depressions
Like they're valleys now
Now I've got orchestras
Inside of my chest
And I feel them rising
With the violins
Don't silence them I'll die
Because I just broke up
With my soulmate
To face the world single
Nothing but the sweet romance
Of the open road
Flirting with the turn signal
Look this is it
These are the wings
That we use
Maybe all we hold onto
Are the things that we lose
The people we love
Fall apart
Like old American houses
Honestly
Some days
I'm afraid to move mountains
But I want to find peace
There's so much in my head
I can barely take one breath
And breathe
I've got to try
To move mountains
Or maybe I should just try
And get some sleep
Inhale
Hold it for five seconds
Breathe
You can move mountains
When the whole world's
On your chest
When you're caving in again
Inhale exhale next
You've got to take
One deep breath
You you can move mountains
Twenty five living with regret
Can you get up again
I know that living
Scares you to death
That's only because
You haven't done it yet
This is how
You move mountains
You can move mountains
You can move mountains
You can move mountains
May all your peaks
Be mountains
All your lows be valleys
Your depressions all be fields
Where wildflowers grow
May you take
The road less traveled
But never feel alone
May you always
See the mountains
In your range of highs and lows
May all your peaks
Be mountains
All your lows be valleys
Your depressions all be fields
Where wildflowers grow
May you take
The road less traveled
But never feel alone
May you always
See the mountains
In your range of highs and lows
Because tonight
We're going to climb
Up to your rooftop
If you don't have a lot left
Give it whatever you've got
The moon
And the constellations
Are our jukebox
We'll let them spin
In constant rotation
While we moonwalk
Look I've got so much
I could never say properly
Even when it feels like
The world falls on top of me
I believe that trying to move it
Isn't useless
Because this isn't you kid
You kid
You can move mountains
It all started with a step
We've all got higher hills to climb
