Valley Divine

I hear your laugh echo through the valley at me
Eyes so sharp you gaze from the highest tree
Your mirth punctuated by a shriek
Now there's only 3 pulses left in the valley

Ears perk up and heads snap 'round
To look for the source of the sound
I think to myself 'when will i ever learn?'
As the body starts to burn

The smell of soot and ash fills the air
With the panicked sounds of braying from the mare
Move close to the wall of heat, if you dare
And the taste of desperation everywhere

Sit on the rock, lean into the breeze
You cannot escape the sea
The way of the lands has been worn over time
You let me twist on the vine
The valley oh so divine
