Red and Gold

At ten years old inside the house
A fight broke out with wife and spouse
I heard my dad hit through the wall
He left our home about that fall
With broken home was left my mom
She showed us strength. She showed us calm
And now nineteen years, and it's fucking me
Who's breaking bones and honestly
I'll spend the years just looking for
The deepest reds and brightest golds
Instead of bullshit days and sleepless nights
Of doing drugs and getting high
A few more tries spent cleaning out
My memories just to take them back
The world alive with blue and green
The Earth calls out and speaks to me

If I'm weathered by the night storm
Will I find out what it's really all for?
Thank God for the life He gave me
And the bright light wrapped around me
If I die by myself and lonely
I'll ask Him just once and only
"Bring me back to life
Bring me back to life"

At twenty-three they were found
And at twenty-five she came around
I fucked things up around twenty-six
And by twenty-eight they were finally fixed
It all came down to Christmas Eve
With just four words whispered quietly
And by twenty-nine I had seen the light
And by thirty-one I'll really be alright

If I'm weathered by the night storm
Will I find out what it's really all for?
Thank God for the life He gave me
And the bright light wrapped around me
If I die by myself and lonely
I'll ask Him just once and only
"Bring me back to life
Bring me back to life"

I am home
I'm safe and I'm okay
Not alone
Just here with the light
All is done
There's peace and there's promise
Of divine (bring me back to life)
Of divine (bring me back to life)

If I'm weathered by the night storm
Will I find out what it's really all for?
Thank God for the life He gave me
And the bright light wrapped around me
If I die by myself and lonely
I'll ask Him just once and only
"Bring me back to life
Bring me back to life"
