alright

I woke up up this morning
The walk to school, a treacherous affair
It doesn't matter what we carry
Nobody's exempt from the despair
Cause I see a million people
With scars that spread across their mind and soul
There's absence in those eyes
And inside their heart a gaping hole

You know, the worry's all around
Everyone is hiding in their shell
They don't know that everything will soon be well
The hatred's flying by
Nobody can stop it with their bare hands

We listen to our counselors and always make the grade
But no one around us sees that we are constantly afraid

I went home minutes early
Cause someone said they'd burn this whole place to the ground
It's a scary world my friends
That's the only real thing that I've found

We disregard our bandages and tell our friends it's cool
But infections fester every day we take our wounds to school
And the children know our issues have no end in sight
Cause no one's stopping to ask if you feel alright

We open up every now and then but sometimes ain't enough
Tell me what we have to gain by acting all so tough
The motions moving every day, the same charade, no light
Cause nobody's asking why the kids are not alright
