That Summer

School's out and it's eighty-eight degrees
Ran so fast to the bus, could not feel my feet
Sat down in the last seat, I felt so free
Legs blocking the aisle like we wouldn't see
Got home, sprint inside into the kitchen
Only once a year parents see me in this condition
Dashed right to the neighbors house, I didn't ask permission
Year after year it's a tradition

Outside every day
Just to forget the worries
Planning getaway as if we
Had a say
Trampoline through the night
As we look up towards the light
Use my senses, bright color
I remember that summer

Filming all kinds of YouTube videos
Not thinking at all about getting old
We grabbed our bikes and hit the new road
There's not a better feeling than being uncontrolled
Hung out in a backyard eating ice cream
Nerf gun battle in the dark, team against team
Woke up the whole neighborhood with each scream
But it didn't matter, we were living the dream

Outside every day
Just to forget the worries
Planning getaway as if we
Had a say
Trampoline through the night
As we look up towards the light
Use my senses, bright color
I remember that summer

Didn't read a single book
I'll never forget my mom's look
Got in trouble for that one
But how much did I care? None
Didn't read a single book
I'll never forget my mom's look
Got in trouble for that one
But how much did I care? None
Didn't read a single book
I'll never forget my mom's look
Got in trouble for that one
But how much did I care? None
Didn't read a single book
I'll never forget my mom's look
Got in trouble for that one
But how much did I care? None

Outside every day
Just to forget the worries
Planning getaway as if we
Had a say
Trampoline through the night
As we look up towards the light
Use my senses, bright color
I remember that summer
Outside every day
Just to forget the worries
Planning getaway as if we
Had a say
