Last Hero's Gone

Bob died with a phone in his hand
While the radio played some Blackberry Smoke
It was dark, he was homebound
And he didn't see the last turn and the ol' big oak

When firemen cut the man out of his wreck
They saw a smile on his bloody face
He was big, he was strong
A good feller to get along in this god-forsaken place

And it seems all the good folks are leaving to soon
Tonight the wailing sirens will be in tune

Woah oh oh we salute to the ones who're gone
Woah oh oh here's to all the folks we've known
Woah oh oh we will keep them in our songs
Woah oh oh sing along till the last hero's gone

Bob worked hard but never skipped a drink
Lost and won many of them fights
Fell in love, struggled hard
In many nights he used to laugh out loud a mournful cry

It was said he just couldn't get on
But no one could tell a good reason
Loved his wife, loved his cat
He was trying to forget 'bout his love to his demons

And it seems all the good folks are leaving to soon
Tonight the wailing sirens will be in tune

Woah oh oh we salute to the ones who're gone
Woah oh oh here's to all the folks we've known
Woah oh oh we will keep them in our songs
Woah oh oh sing along till the last hero's gone

And that night on the byway
When he looked at pictures of much better days
He knew his life would never be like it seems to be
On his old cracked display
So, Bob swiped them away!
