Trying a Try

Might be in this for the wrong reasons
All I wanted was a little love
And I know it sounds so fucking selfish
Cause that's something I've got plenty of
But it don't fill the whole inside of me
And it don't let me love myself
And when I turn around and look behind me
I see the footsteps of somebody else

But I just keep writing things down
Pretending that I'm saying them out loud
And how many floors have I fallen now
And what happens when I hit the ground

I'm done asking why
I think it's time I give trying a try

Here's a little anecdote from someone I used to know
Keep your nose above your throat
And don't go where you shouldn't go
I used to think it was a dumb joke
Now I'm choking on my ego

I've got ropes and I've got ties
And a long list of mountains I've never climbed
But I've got nothing but time
Just gotta stop letting it slip on by

I'm done asking why
Think it's time I give trying a try
I'm done asking why
I think it's time I give trying a try

I've got ropes and I've got ties
And a long list of mountains I've never climbed
But I've got nothing but time
Just gotta stop letting it slip on by

I'm done asking why
Think it's time I give trying a try
I'm done asking why
I think it's time I give trying a try
I'm done asking why
I think it's time I give trying a try
