Self Esteem Intro
Welcome to In My Weakness, the album
Thank you for tuning in
Today, I just want to talk about self-esteem
It's something the world spins differently than what the Bible says
If somebody battles with low self-esteem
And you go up to a friend and they ask for advice
The first advice they're going to say is to love yourself more
You know, like don't view yourself so lowly
Stop hurting yourself, forgive yourself, love yourself
And if somebody is fighting with high self-esteem
Somebody might say, hey, humble yourself, man
You're too about yourself, man. You're so self-absorbed
And they tell you to get lower
So one's telling the low person to go high
And the other is telling the high person to go low
But do you see something wrong with both
Both are focused on self
And that's the main issue
Now, I want to tell you about something else
There's another scale that's not just revolving around self
It's actually about God
I know, I know. Sometimes when we hear something
We jump from one extreme to the other
Thinking that the other extreme is going to do it justice, right
But it doesn't. It falls short
Now, hear me out. You got this desire in you
To be loved, to be accepted, to be approved
To be something great
And I get it
Loving yourself seems like the answer sometimes
Accepting your own self seems like the answer
Being great would just make sense, right
But that desire wasn't built there for that reason
That desire was actually put in there
So that you could seek the love of God
So that you could seek the acceptance of God
So that you could seek the approval of God
Now look, there's no good deed that you could ever do in your life
To ever save yourself, to ever be able to be holy on your own
To be righteous, to be perfect
We will never meet that scale and it was never meant to
So if you're battling with low self-esteem or high self-esteem
I'm going to tell you right now, the cure is not the opposite
The cure is Jesus Christ, man
Whatever you think of yourself, whatever you see in that mirror that you hate
Trust me, God can make you something new
We were meant to be a new creation
We were meant to be loved by the God
That's why we desire that because we are loved by the God of this universe
We're loved by Jesus Christ, man. He died for you
Whether high or low, stop focusing on yourself
