Finding My Own Dawn
Another year's come around, dreaded day is here
A moment to reflect, to rediscover my cheer
Though Shadows may linger, and trust seems gone
I'll rise above their pettiness, for I know I'm strong!
Thoughts turn to a man I once knew
A distant figure in my rearview
I'll let the past fade, it's time to move on
To find my peace and my own new dawn!
You ran away, traveled far and wide
Why was I left to wrestle with my pride?
Yet I won't dwell on what's been done
Instead, I'll shine like the rising Sun
Thoughts turn to the man I miss when I'm blue
Who I wish hadn't watched me fade in his rearview
I'll let the past fade too, for I must move on
If I'm to find my peace and face my dawn!
In the darkest moments, I've found my Light
Alone, I found strength within to stand and fight!
No longer bound by the Brightsteel chains of past
I'm breaking free, soaring on my wings at last!
As years go by, I'll keep singing these rhymes
To heal my heart, to mend old times
For I've learned that life is for living
To find my own path, I'll keep on giving
So, here's a toast to that lost man I once knew
If he were here, I know he'd be proud of me, too!
But he's long gone!
