Working Days

Try to hide from the system
That put me in this place
Run while you can, run so far away
But there's nowhere to hide
So survive another day

Eventually it'll get you
And trap you in it's claws
You can try to fight it but
Beware it's greedy jaws
No one gets out
No one gets out

And they'll tell you it's normal
They'll pretend it's common sense
To work overtime
Just to pay your rent

Isn't it a shame there is always a bill to pay
And the next one is always on it's way
Always a next one on its way
Rent, water, gas, internet

And I don't know just
What else I would do
If only they'd give me the time
To think it through
I'm afraid to say

But I guess I'm not okay
With what they call 'working days'

No longer just 9 to 5
It seems to dominate my life
Still people call me crazy
When I complain about it
Almost daily

Can we rewrite what's normal
Can we except it's not our fault
To be stuck in a system
That only thinks of its gold

And they'll tell you that it's normal
They'll pretend it's common sense
To work overtime
Just to pay your rent

Isn't it a shame there is always a bill to pay
And the next one is always on it's way
Always a next one on its way
-rent, water, gas, internet-

And I don't know just
What else I would do
If only they'd give me the time
To think it through
I'm afraid to say

But I guess I'm not okay
With what they call 'working days'

Let's eat the rich
Let's burn it all down
Let's try anything
To change how it is now

My golden cage
Is getting smaller and smaller
And my anxiety keeps getting
Taller

And the next one is always on it's way
Always a next one on its way
Rent, water, gas, internet

And I don't know just
What else I would do
If only they'd give me the time
To think it through
I'm afraid to say

But I guess I'm not okay
With what they call 'working days'

Rent, water, gas, internet
