Kill the Killer

I just arrived at my college dorm
Ran up the stairs to beat the storm
These Victorian halls
Still echo my brightest hopes and memories
But I also see shadows on every wall
Of rumors that made me feel so small
My instincts brought me here
The reason's still unclear
Maybe I just needed one last look so I can finally close the door
I grab my coat 'cause there's an icy breeze
And then some people come over to meet me

They tell me that someone's trying to kill me
It kinda dropped me to my knees
Some of them say it's not that bad
I know that we can work it out
One of them says
You brought this on yourself
None of this is new
I might wanna kill you too

We all rush to get in the car
Drive to a place that's really far
These gold fields of wheat and sky like coal go on forever
We fight to keep our eyes open wide
Blinded by the headlights from behind
A chevy truck in red
This driver wants me dead
Somehow it doesn't matter where I go, 'cause she will always find me
I look behind her ride's slowin' down
She's heads right to that haunted old ghost town

They tell me that someone's trying to kill me
It kinda dropped me to my knees
Some of them say it's not that bad
I know that we can work it out
One of them says
You brought this on yourself
None of this is new
I might wanna kill you too

Let's find this truck and go take a look
Maybe one of us should go on foot
The rest of us will drive around and find a way to meet you there
We pull up to an empty street
With abandoned houses full of discarded debris
Stillness fills the air
Secrets everywhere
Shaking, as we move a bit closer 'cause we don't know what we'll find
Someone's running towards us, looks like a friend
She says the killer that chased us is dead

They tell me that someone was trying to kill me
It kinda dropped me to my knees (Some of them say it's not that bad)
(I know that we can work it out)

I wonder if she is really gone
Why does her scent still linger on?
I asked them did you kill her to which they said, "No, you did."
"You killed the killer and she is you"
"Clouding your dreams and all you do."
Did I turn off the noise?
And silence my dark voice

One of them says
You brought this on yourself
None of this is new
I might wanna kill you too

Jolted to find the me that I killed lurking around every corner
"You can't leave me," she said, "We're bound."
"I promise I'll see you around."
