Painted Faces

In chains
Like Alice trading Wonderland for fame
The rabbits run away to save their legs
From all the fortune hungry types
Feels like innocence is fleeting all the time

Keep it up
Wonder if I'm good enough
Look around at everyone competing for a dime
I'm tired of scraping by the minimum
Wishing I could see from someone else's frame of mind

Painted faces bathed in light
Twisted signs
In their eyes become
A scary white
Everybody likes to like
Is it what we want
Or are we just going blind?

Falling behind
Weakened by the weight on my spine
I search to find a spark to ignite
For some guidance
Hoping for the day

I'm not chased
By fear of what world has coming
Of what I'll become

Take it off
Can we fight it off?
Can we wash it all away?

Painted faces bathed in light
Twisted signs
In their eyes become
A scary white
Everybody likes to like
Is it what we want
Or are we just going blind?
