There Was a Time

There was a time
When she was still a part of me
And in my mind
I thought that we were meant to be
There were days
Where I was left looking down
But her face, alone
Made me feel like I was found

But I
Was slowly pushed out of the picture frame
Was longing just to hear her say my name
I didn't notice that I hadn't changed
And that I'm to blame

There was a time
When the birds sang in the morning
And that time
They sang even though it was storming

But they
Soon flew away cause they had lost all hope
They tried to sing but couldn't hit the notes
They had seen my soul start withering away
They saw my heart as it began to break

There was a time
When we were happy and free
And in my mind
I still hear the birds in the trees
