When the Church Goes Home

When I was a little boy, I heard the preacher say
Live your life Jesus like he's coming back today
Now that I am older the anticipation grows

I can't wait. Today might be the day the Jesus shows

I'll be goin' up when the Lord come down
With a brand new body, I'm gonna be Heaven bound
Transfigured, transported, I won't be alone
When the trumpet sounds and the Lord comes down
The church goes home

Now you may be a skeptic, sayin' it's been way too long
But God's own word assures us that his promise is his bond
Just as sure a Jesus came to save us from our sin
Mark each day with certainty that he will come again

I'll be goin' up when the Lord come down
With a brand new body, I'm gonna be Heaven bound
Transfigured, transported, I won't be alone
When the trumpet sounds and the Lord comes down
The church goes home

Rise up, oh church, and celebrate for we are almost there
The dead in Christ will rise again, we'll meet him in the air
So take the gospel message to those who need him still
This could be the last day to perform the Father's will

We'll be goin' up when the Lord come down
Oh, the body of Christ is gonna be Heaven bound
Transfigured, transported, we won't be alone
When the trumpet sounds and the Lord comes down
We're goin home

When the trumpet sounds and the Lord comes down
We're goin' home
