The Gift of Life

How does she know what to say
When I'm having a bad day
And where did she learn what to do
When I am feeling so blue

She always seems to make me smile
When I'd rather to cry for awhile
And how does she make it all right
When I'm lost in the fight

And When I'm feeling all alone
She turns a house into a home
There's nothing quite like a mother's love
Sometimes I want to run and hide
But she stays there by my side
Bringing me those kisses and hugs

It's kind of sad to say
That there is only one special day
When a mother is recognized
For their precious gift of life

She was there when I learned to crawl
In the days when I would fall
And she was there I suppose
When I had a runny nose

She taught me to say my prayers
And she bought me clothes to wear
And where did she learn how to fix
A kid who was just plain homesick

And When I'm feeling all alone
She turns a house into a home
There's nothing quite like a mother's love
Sometimes I want to run and hide
But she stays there by my side
Bringing me those kisses and hugs

It's kind of sad to say
That there is only one special day
When a mother is recognized
For their precious gift of life
