Cowboy Hats and Cadillacs
Another one's left their mark on the world
They packed up and rode home
And all you can see for miles and miles
Is a line of cars with their headlights on
And cowboy hats and Cadillacs
And another one gone
When the second generation started fadin' away
They got the wagon wheel and took another spoke away
Service at the Methodist with old school hymns
And when the next one went they did it all again
In their cowboy hats and their Cadillacs
And another one gone
Yeah the silence of the siblings would break for the day
But before it was over it was all the same way
The temperature rose in the heated debates
They shoveled on the dirt and they drove away
In their cowboy hats and their Cadillacs
And another one gone
I stood outside on the church lawn
After young Colt Cluck had passed away
Watched his Daddy take the reins of an empty saddle horse
And walk his own son down Broadway
And It struck my heart
And I saw in part
That there's way more to it than what you see goin' on
Among the cowboy hats and the Cadillacs
And another one gone
So we take a silent moment and say farewell
And honor every generation from here to there
I'll see ya at the next one no matter whose turn
With arms wide open and our lessons learned
In our cowboy hats and our Cadillacs
And another one gone
They packed up and rode home
And all you can see for miles and miles
Is a line of cars with their headlights on
And cowboy hats and Cadillacs
And another one gone
When the second generation started fadin' away
They got the wagon wheel and took another spoke away
Service at the Methodist with old school hymns
And when the next one went they did it all again
In their cowboy hats and their Cadillacs
And another one gone
Yeah the silence of the siblings would break for the day
But before it was over it was all the same way
The temperature rose in the heated debates
They shoveled on the dirt and they drove away
In their cowboy hats and their Cadillacs
And another one gone
I stood outside on the church lawn
After young Colt Cluck had passed away
Watched his Daddy take the reins of an empty saddle horse
And walk his own son down Broadway
And It struck my heart
And I saw in part
That there's way more to it than what you see goin' on
Among the cowboy hats and the Cadillacs
And another one gone
So we take a silent moment and say farewell
And honor every generation from here to there
I'll see ya at the next one no matter whose turn
With arms wide open and our lessons learned
In our cowboy hats and our Cadillacs
And another one gone
