The Last Queen of Scotland

France I've grown to love you
And you loved me as your own
You sheltered me from harm
I was welcomed on your throne

But everything changes and all things must end
My husband is gone now, my King and my friend

And so it's time to go home

So haul away the anchor and cast us off to see
I'll be the Queen they need and love, My Scotland waits for me

A Catholic Queen in a Protestant land
I hope to make them understand
That we can live in peace, respectfully
Religious freedom, harmony
A united front, it has begun
A strong, proud nation, standing as one
My kinsmen rally, welcome me
Their rightful heir, their Scottish Queen

Mary, Mary, Mary Queen of Scots
Mary, Mary, Mary Queen of Scots

I made mistakes, married twice again
I won't be the last to choose the wrong men
My political enemies
They used my marriage against me
Being Scotland's Queen is all I've known
I've been the Queen since I was six days old
So I'll fight my enemy Protestant Lords
Though we share the same God, we will go to war

Mary, Mary, Mary Queen of Scots
Mary, Mary, Mary Queen of Scots

My army battle valiantly
Fighting to the death, dying gallantly
But all is lost, I must give in
They crown my son, my enemy win

They've stripped my power away and now I have to go
I will die here if I stay so I must leave my home

To the Queen of England, cousin and friend
I fled for my life, but she willed my end
For the jealousy and power had gone to her head
She locked me up then ordered me dead

So I go to the chopping block, head held high
They will see my strength, I will not cry
For my end is my beginning, they will set me free
I'm Mary Queen of Scots and a legend I'll be
