Underdog

The clock strikes six, the sun goes down
The underdog rides into town
To drink a pint of what's to come
And reflect among the setting sun

He sees her beauty from afar
They share a glance from across the bar
And, though he's taken by this view
He'd come to find her taken, too

A challenge like no other, the underdog must dare
For the lady's man and all his brothers catch him unaware
Outclassed, outmanned, a lesser man would sure be damned
Outgunned, outmatched, but a cunning plan our man has hatched

For the underdog has valor, the underdog has grit
The underdog has determination and the underdog has wit
The toughest one sat up and walked toward him
The crowd grew quiet as the odds grew slim

The wretched man drew his gun and aimed
The underdog went and did the same
But what that dirtbag didn't know
A second gun our man had stowed

And, before that thug could comprehend
The underdog shot that sucker dead
Outclassed, outmanned, a lesser man would sure be damned
Outgunned, outmatched, but the underdog was the one who laughed

For the underdog has valor, the underdog has grit
The underdog has determination and the underdog has wit
