Cockpit

Drifting on to the next planet I go
I have a job to do and nothing more
There' s a small shred of me that still believes
There is something that I've stopped looking for
Numerous engine lights are still blinking
I've attended to it with the best of my ability
I don't want to believe
That there could be better compatibility

I've only got one seat in the cockpit
But I've learned to fly this thing through the worst
I've got enough oxygen to survive a lifetime
But there's a mission directive to take care of first
I can drift around the galaxy
But the air pressure keeps me from staying in one place
Need to retreat back to my shuttle
Alone I face the vast expanse of space

This little life is all I've ever known
I know there's nothing I can't overcome
No time to think if I have had a choice
This is the way that things have to be done
Fully capable of navigation
A growing part of me wishes it wasn't necessary
It feels weak to admit
That I would much rather be fighting smaller beasts

I've only got one seat in the cockpit
But I've learned to fly this thing through the worst
I've got enough oxygen to survive a lifetime
But there's a mission directive to take care of first
I can drift around the galaxy
But the air pressure keeps me from staying in one place
Need to retreat back to my shuttle
Alone I face the vast expanse of space

I can't get lost, the galaxy's too large (Woah)
There's only one person on this ship that can take charge
(Oh I really hope that it is me)
All this time I can only pray (Oh woah)
That I don't have to need it be any other way (Oh yeah)

I've only got one seat in the cockpit
But I've learned to fly this thing through the worst
I've got enough oxygen to survive a lifetime
But there's a mission directive to take care of first
I can drift around the galaxy
But the air pressure keeps me from staying in one place
Need to retreat back to my shuttle
Alone I face the vast expanse of space
