Masked Man

There is a masked man in the pines
He stares at me from the tree line
I can barely see his eyes
The pillow case makes quite the disguise

He follows me silently
Tiptoeing closely through the leaves
Down a dirt road, cornfield, high way
Midwestern gothic masquerade

So I dance with him slowly under the moon
He tears at my lungs and there's no breathing room
And when I wake, he'll be just a dream
Until I fall asleep
I'll see him in my dreams

And when it's cold I feel him breathe
The mist of his breath wraps around me
And I never knew that I was so terrified
Of what lies beyond the pines

So I dance with him slowly under the moon
He tears at my lungs and there's no breathing room
And when I wake, he'll be just a dream
Until I fall asleep
I'll see him in my dreams

There is a masked man in your room
And if you look you'll see him too

And in the middle of the night he'll beacon to the pines
