Ghost Story

I was sitting in my room
Playing my guitar
Thinking bout going for a ride in my car
When my baby walked in
Slumped down and started to cry

I tried to wipe her tears
Tried to touch her hair
But each time I reached it was like squeezing the air
And that's when I remembered that I died

I don't remember how
I don't remember when
I don't remember noticing my see through skin
I didn't go to heaven
I didn't go to hell
I didn't go anywhere, so beside her I will dwell

So if you hear a bump in the night
Or if a shadow moves under a flickering light
Well bury your suspicion
And know that apparition
Is just me, and everything's alright

I was sitting all alone
Singing to myself
Looking at the pictures of us framed on her shelf
When my baby walked in
And started to cry on the bed

I tried to give a hug
Tried to give a kiss
But each time I reached I only felt emptiness
And that's when I
Remembered
I was dead

I don't remember how
I don't remember why
I don't remember noticing my glowing eyes
I didn't go to heaven
I didn't go to hell
I didn't go anywhere, so beside her I will dwell

So if you hear a bump in the night
Or if a shadow moves under a flickering light
Well bury your suspicion
And know that apparition
Is just me, and everything's alright

How can I let her know that I'm right here
Maybe I can throw some books or smash a mirror
And every time she starts to fall asleep, dreaming
I'll slam some doors and windows until she wakes up screaming

So if you hear a bump in the night
Or if a shadow moves under a flickering light, c'mon
Well bury your suspicion
And know that apparition
Is me, and everything's alright, alright
It's just me and everythings all

Right
It's alright, it's alright
Everything's alright, alright, ahoooo, yeah
