Paper Boat

My hope is a paper boat
Afloat on an open ocean
Close to coast
And it braves its way
Over mile high waves
In a bid to save you
To coax you home
When you're parched and sore
On a lonesome shore
With your shattered faith
And your broken awe
At the skyward scars
Of a thousand stars
And the will to life
At their burning core

But if my will held any sway
I'd send a fleet full tilt your way
Like orchids on the water
To carry you back to me
Well we fell so far from grace
And all we found left in its place
Was an empty bottle
And an unfinished symphony

My hope is a paper boat
Afloat on an open ocean
Close to coast
And it makes its way
To my castaway
In a bid to save you
When you can't cope
And your wounded pride
Is a futile tide
Calling all who swim
To be sanctified
But I see you stand
In your storm of sand
With your hands outstretched
Bold and wild-eyed

If my will held any sway
I'd send a fleet full tilt your way
Like orchids on the water
To carry you back to me
Well we fell so far from grace
And all we found left in its place was
An empty bottle
And a burning symphony

When you're parched and sore
On a lonesome shore
With your shattered faith
And your broken awe
At the skyward scars
Of a thousand stars
And the will to life
In your burning heart

But if my will held any sway
I'd send a fleet full tilt your way
Like orchids on the water
To carry you back to me

Well we fell so far from grace
And all we found left in its place was
An empty bottle
And a forgotten symphony
An empty bottle
And a forgotten symphony
An empty bottle
And a forgotten symphony
