The Great Beyond Awakes

When fire stops burning
When galaxies are no longer turning
And life is only a memory
Of the cosmos yearning and learning
To be itself

When matter has dispersed
Across the universe
Stretching thinner on and on
Forever and everything
Is nowhere at all

Time will have been an illusion
So too will fear and confusion
Will fate or a decision
Cause the next act to unfold?

The past will be opaque
No pattern of darkness to trace
Until The Great Beyond awakes
Finally answering
To be, or not to be?

And then the thunder will roar
Waves will crash the shores
Fire will burn once more
Iron will be forged

And though arrows will fly
Darkening the sky
Serpents too are part of paradise
Behind evil tragedy hides

Though these creatures rise from the sea and
Need to compete to eat
They seek innerstanding
Of truth above themselves

When oh when will you realize
Stardust watches itself glow at night
To be alive, oh to be alive is to be Northern Lights
That someday you'll wake up on
