Not A Poem

In the loneliest and darkest nights of the soul
Thoughts strike deep to remind us we are real
You think love is there to make us happy?
Uncertainty, anxiety, fear make us feel alive
Alone I am someone

On the streets, I am nobody
Loneliness then could be the deepest thing
We can give of ourselves
Allowing us to see the beauty existing in the necessity of things
Without loneliness, there would be no composition of authentic words

The need to write, to inmortalize moments
The need to be romantic, shamefully romantic
Not in an exaggerated emotional way
But rather in a dark, tormented one
Feeling the despair of an idealism
That cannot be reached

I would say that it is not loneliness that terrifies us
But rather feeling alone
When our absence does not make anyone feel empty
For me, lonely nights will always be poetic
