Self-Talk

Suddenly
Something happened inside me and I looked at the thought
I became aware of the thought and I said
I cannot live with myself
That's strange
So there must be I and there must be myself
Am I one or two? I seem to be two
And everybody has felt that
Heard you say to yourself
I said to myself

I've been
Making bad decisions repeatedly
Repetitive actions they come easily
The habits I'm forming they form into me
So this is a warning my warning to me
You're seeing the man that you wanted to be
Slip straight through your hands become history
Just start when you can
You needed a plan
Concealing your hand
You seek defeat in advance
Cos if you're lying to self
Then you're denying your health
You can't rely on yourself
You're redefined as selfish
You feel kind of helpless
To help this cycle end
My mind ain't my friend
Cos I'm my own worst enemy
Thoughts get ahead of me
What am I meant to be
Lost in potentially's
Often upset with me
I can't pretend to be
Up when I'm not I've been
Off now I get it see

You and me
Could get to be
At where we need
It might just take some time
Conversations in my mind
This other voice it is not mine
At times

I said there's plenty different ways
that I have failed before
It's just a couple lazy days
Then a couple more
He said I have to change my ways
I told him yeah for sure
But I don't listen to myself
I need to trust him more

How bad can you want something
If you won't give it time
What d'you do with your time
What d'you do with your time
So work hard and play less
You just have to harness your mind
Are you using your mind
Or are you losing your mind
Make good with yourself
Before you both run out of time
As the seconds go by
Try befriending your I
I'm struggling to depend on myself
To provide
No one else it's your life so
Know yourself one more time

Could get to be
At where we need

And of course the entire
What we call the voice in the head
We could also call it self talk
Where you talk to yourself
And most people address themselves as you
So the voice is
You shouldn't have done that or
You should better
Yeah
So constantly there's a
Separation inside human beings
Which is the essence of ego

And they get mixed up together
