When the Crows Fly South

I've been walking on this earth for far too long
Life's a worn-out record that's lost its sweet song
I been played so many times being stuck on repeat
Passing time in my bed, has it been a day or week?
The sun is shining brightly as I slowly draw my curtains
Looking out the window pane, but inside is where I'm hurting
I walked to my fridge in a dimly lit room
Take a drink of old milk that's expired like a tomb
I know I'm lacking peers but my knives look friendly
Blades smirking at the tip, but it ain't time to end me
I'm sitting at my desk, pull out a half-empty pen
I got letters for my parents that I never got to send
Toss my empty bottles and watch them clank to the floor
It takes all of my strength to close my one-hinged door
Crumpled-up papers with lines that have faded
Hear these hard words while I'm depressed and jaded

I'll be sitting on the hills when the crows fly south
As they call to the grave from the backs of their mouth
I'm searching for answers to diminish this drouth
But the demons in my head are becoming too loud
So if there's a god or being that can heal my spirit
Let your words rain down as the world floods to hear it
I used to dread the thought of death but i don't fear it
Cause I've tried shooting my life but it's just a near hit

The days are getting longer, but my thought's getting darker
Lost sight of all meaning, someone took off the marker
I smile to the corner where shadows became my friends
This all soon be over, cause it's time to make amends
I hear a voice calling out beyond the Old Valley
The wind's picking up like a hurricane in Cali
I hope someone finds the note that I have left them
Cause at this point I have nothing left to invest in
Deep into a forest, I hear the voice growing louder
I suddenly feel uplifted and quite a bit prouder
It leads me up a hill and there's a figure at a cliff
A bridge of warm light split time like a rift
He took my arm slowly and said "Let's cross over"
It's time to test my luck like a four-leaf clover
I put my best foot forward and felt free at last
I don't recall much, but I fell away from my past

I'll be looking from the heavens when the crows fly south
As they call to the grave from the backs of their mouth
You'll be searching for my corpse from here until now
Calling for my name but the storm's too loud
So listen in the winds for the echoes of my spirit
Everyone will know my voice as soon as they hear it
I smile right beside death because I don't fear it
Hear this hymn when I'm gone I hope that you can revere it
