Singing Fish

The singing fish pushed through the violet fog
He found his love among a pile of stars
If he only hadn't been quite so lonely then
He would have caught the taste of ashes in the air

They floated in on small electric moons
Fell on the bed alive and shivering
Two pairs of dazzled eyes saw much too late
That every dawn is heartbreaking

Out on the cabbage green, the fish was pondering
Droolings of swarthy light and sending heavenward
Ridiculous stubborn prayers for his lost angel girl
Filaments like tears of milk fell across the countryside

They floated in on small electric moons
Fell on the bed alive and shivering
Two pairs of dazzled eyes saw much too late
That every dawn is heartbreaking

And the fish sang

Ha-eyah, ha-eyah ah ah ah
Ha-eyah, ha-eyah ah ah ah

The singing fish pushed through the violet fog
He lost his love among a pile of stars
If he only hadn't been quite so lonely then
He would have caught the taste of ashes in the air

They floated in on small electric moons
Fell on the bed alive and shivering
Two pairs of dazzled eyes saw much too late
That every dawn is heartbreaking

And the fish sang

Ha-eyah, ha-eyah ah ah ah
Ha-eyah, ha-eyah ah ah ah
Ha-eyah, ha-eyah ah ah ah
