Cheers 60625

We were scrawny kids jumping off the swing sets
Playing kick ball hoping I get picked next
The food and liquor store stealing all the bubble gum
Not knowing where my next meal was coming from
My friends older brothers are dying fast
We're too young to be watching these crying dads
And we were told we were destined to fail
That we'd either be a gangbanger dead or in jail
Now it's trips to Rome Spain and Tokyo
Vacations on boats champagne in the Poconos
Watching my best friends first kids first steps
Seeing his dad tell him, he's proud of all his progress
We got that squad game, IFN the network
We were worthless but now we got that net worth
I'm not rich but I made it out the ditch
So I'm thankful for this life that I live
This is for the ex-cons
Keeping they head strong
Cheers tap your glass
This is for that single moms working night jobs
Cheers tap your glass
This is for that come back story
That against all odds
The one that no one ever betted on
This is for you
Everbody fill your drinks
Cheers
I'll never forget the night that those guys died
We walked in the school the morning after the drive by
I'm 9 years old and they ain't even clean the blood yet
Bullet holes still smoking from where the guns hit
They tried to sit us down and make us comprehend
But by then we were just seeing death again
Numb to the violence of the streets we ran
Rest in peace to all my people who lost friends or fam
But now you're raising kids hoping you can make a change
A better life a better chance than where we came
Family vacays, and showing up a soccer games
BBQs with all the friends that still remain
It's a far cry coming from those hard times
But we defected from those war lines
We're not rich, but we made it out the ditch
So we're thankful for the life that we live
This is for the ex-cons
Keeping they head strong
Cheers tap your glass
This is for that single moms working night jobs
Cheers tap your glass
This is for that come back story
That against all odds
The one that no one ever betted on
This is for you
Everybody fill your drinks
This is for the ex-cons
Keeping they head strong
Cheers tap your glass
This is for that single moms working night jobs
Cheers tap your glass
This is for that come back story
That against all odds
The one that no one ever betted on
This is for you
