Mystic Snowstorm

Another car with a broken window
Passing me by on the open highway
Another smashed-up package of dreams
Flowing out with the tide on an empty beach
Saw the shadow of a shallow footstep
Cover a face that I've seen before
Like a liquid apparition
Floating just outside my reach

Someday we'll all be side by side
In a mystic snowstorm when we die
And the blood in our hearts will turn to foam
And flood a world we call our own
And the pain will spill out from our brains
And we'll laugh as it circles round the drain
And the air in our lungs will turn to fire
And we'll smile 'til nothing remains

Saw a crack in my bedroom ceiling
Flakes of paint laying round my bed
Like the roof had given up hope that it could fit in with the plot
But I saw a sliver of light
Coming in through the cracks in my old eye sockets
And I knew that last night's dream
Was coming for me if I wanted it or not

Someday we'll all be side by side
In a mystic snowstorm when we die
And the blood in our hearts will turn to foam
And flood a world we call our own
And the pain will spill out from our brains
And we'll laugh as it circles round the drain
And the air in our lungs will turn to fire
And we'll smile 'til nothing remains

Saw a glimmer of light in the distance
Deep in the fog in the deep deep woods
Like a beacon of hope in world
That I created in times of old
Saw a shadow of a shallow footstep
Cover a face that I've seen before
As it disappeared beneath
The snow that birthed it long ago

Someday we'll all be side by side
In a mystic snowstorm when we die
And the blood in our hearts will turn to foam
And flood a world we call our own
And the pain will spill out from our brains
And we'll laugh as it circles round the drain
And the air in our lungs will turn to fire
And we'll smile 'til nothing remains

Someday we'll all be side by side
In a mystic snowstorm when we die
And the blood in our hearts will turn to foam
And flood a world we call our own
And the pain will spill out from our brains
And we'll laugh as it circles round the drain
And the air in our lungs will turn to fire
And we'll smile 'til nothing remains
