Variable Joy

Why am I looking down again?
I swear to God that I just felt the best I've ever felt
Now my smile starts to bend
The highs always comes to an end
Only stopping in so often
Even though the lows they like to linger when
(I'm in my head)

Frame of mind has turned into a sine wave
(Too bad gravity is only pulling down on me)
Feel the line keep diving even deeper
But it won't come back up quite the same

(Why)
Why are all the mountains still the same?
(The peaks never change)
All the valleys keep on cutting even deeper
Through the layers of my brain
And now my eyes won't open up quite the same

Frame of mind has turned into a sine wave
(Too bad gravity is only pulling down on me)
Feel the line keep diving even deeper
But it won't come back up quite the same
Try to find another way
(To elevate)
But I don't think I'm getting any higher
And I'm just becoming tired
Of the variable joy that keeps me blinded

Maybe the fall's not getting any farther
Maybe the climb is just becoming harder
Maybe I need to stop thinking 'bout
The depths of every hollow when
The ground beneath is sinking
Focus on ascent
Find some height again
(Find some height again)
(Again)
