Crunch

Working fifteen hours a day, something doesn't feel right
I mean when I first signed up, this job was pretty tight
The interview was brutal, I won't lie about that
But the reward is sweet, or so I thought, light
On my feet cause i work in the gaming industry
But now all I'm filled with is cynicism and fury
I'm glad to hear we're finally starting to unionize
But seriously, how many layoffs did it take, guys?
High expectations cause we work on games, its the dream
But these impossible standards got me blowing steam
Out my ears, cause QA found another glitch in that beam
But you know we crank out bug fixes on this team
I wanna be loyal but it sucks not having free time
We can only run on passion so long until it's time
To reconsider why we do this in the first place
Please just let us work at a good pace

So if you understand, throw up your hands
Cause the industry kills, so we throw hands
We run these streets cause we made these lands
From the ground up, I think we need to round up
All the devs, and have them say no more!
Quit making us work more hours than 44
And if you don't like it, we'll walk right out the door
Yeah, we'll walk right out the door

Long hours, glass ceilings, we can't help but rage
Over worked and under paid, most at a young age
I hate that all their dreams get crushed like tomatoes
From this industry, they really are cogs and hoes
And I ain't talking fucking, I'm talking tools
Cause that's what they see us as, they take us for fools
Don't get me wrong, not all companies are blood suckers
But don't get me started on EA, they're some fuckers
Or should I say masters of the microtransaction
But there are some indie devs out there getting traction
On a proper work life balance, it's what's healthy
While the publishers just focus on what makes them wealthy
I wanna look up to Phil Spencer and Jim Ryan
Trust them with my money, I don't want to be an uninformed fan
And be a dummy, but you can't just pay my tummy
And work me to death, just a coding mummy

So if you understand, throw up your hands
Cause the industry kills, so we throw hands
We run these streets cause we made these lands
From the ground up, I think we need to round up
All the devs, and have them say no more!
Quit making us work more hours than 44
And if you don't like it, we'll walk right out the door
Yeah, we'll walk right out the door

Now let me break it down for you, here's what we want
A good salary and time off, then we'll definitely flaunt
That this is the greatest industry, just treat us right
I wanna go home before early morn becomes late night
How is that too much to ask for? Tell me, how?
Only good thing about the Epic store is they pay more
Than Steam does, but they have exclusivity rights now
I feel like you're selling out when you do that, whore
I'm talking about you, Randy Pitchford, you bitch
Play on Epic? I'd rather make a deal with a witch
Oh and R-I-P to Stadia, it wasn't half bad
The only big problem I found was the lag
How do I summarize a topic I'm so passionate about?
If I had a wish, it would be to be back, no doubt
But I can't go back until they make some serious changes
To the system, I hope they make the exchanges
