Unraveling

We sit alone in the booth of a bar
At first across, now intertwined
Our underlying thoughts of one another
Hidden before but now revealed

For now we are together, she thinks
As I slowly regain my regular thoughts
They kiss
I don't

All he's done is crash the world
What has he done?
What have I done?
"Drunken speech is sober thought," they say
It's not an excuse for what he did

A simple text message the next morning
Can either reconcile or destroy
Does she reply?
He is confused, but I know it's over
